What’s our new favorite thing straight out of Germany?!?! Well, it’s not Tokio Hotel (shuush…we still love them!) What we’re really talking about is Cinema Bizarre — one part fashion, one part androgyny and a whole lotta electro-pop goodness. Influenced by Japanese subculture, Grace Jones and the incomparable David Bowie, lead singer Strify is all things a frontman should be. When we had the chance to catch up with Strify we knew we had to surprise him with some hard hitting journalistic questions — like who would you date and who would you dump. You’ll have to read on to see where Miley Cyrus and Robert Pattinson landed on that list…

Being a new band from Germany and given both your look and your sound there are obvious similarities to Tokio Hotel. How do you deal, as a band, with the constant comparisons? What separates you from Tokio Hotel?

The only thing that we really do have in common is that we are two successful bands from Germany with and extraordinary style traveling around the world. I really think that anyone who finds our music sounds similar must be deaf. But I just don’t deal with the comparisons at all because we are doing our own thing and have our own identity.

Your first big tour in the United States was with Lady Gaga who is arguably at the top of the pop food chain right now. Where does Cinema Bizarre go from there with another tour?

Currently we are working on own European “WE’RE ALL TOYZ”-Tour. We are also planning another trip to the US this summer and for sure we also want to come back to play more concerts and a full US tour. GaGa was very supportive and it was a great oppurtunity to go on tour with her.

It was just announced that your album Bang will be coming out in the United States on August 25th. Can you tell us a bit about what fans have to look forward to? How will this release differ from past albums in Germany?

In Europe we are releasing the second album but we don’t want the US to miss the first one. So we decided to make a mix up of the two European albums. But there will also be some tracks that we worked on just for the US market. “BANG!” is goin to be a firework of glitter, melancholy and power. It’s just goin to be bang!

Each member of the band has a very unique look and it seems as if androgyny is a theme. Is this a true statement?

I have always been very androgynous. If you look at pictures from my childhood I already have been lookin different than other kids. At least they made me feel different. I was a misfit and they forced me to think about the way I am. I just don’t want to be restricted by what I do by rules that are from another time. Why shouldn’t a guy be wearing make up? I don’t know who makes that rules and I don’t care about those either.

What’s the best hair and makeup advice you could give one of your fans?

I’m not the guy to give anyone an advice how they should look like. Just feel comfortable with what you do. The only way to get happy is being you.

If you had to pick one person to date and one person to dump who would be which from Twilight’s Robert Pattinson or Jonas Brother’s Nick Jonas. Same question for Megan Fox or Miley Cyrus.

I’d dump Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus.

Être un nouveau groupe d'Allemagne et donnant à la fois votre look et votre son, il y a des similarités évidentes avec Tokio Hotel. Comment gérez-vous, en tant que groupe, les comparaisons constantes? Qu'est-ce qui vous sépare de Tokio Hotel?

La seule chose que nous ayons vraiment en commun c'est que nous sommes 2 groupes à succès venant d'Allemagne avec un style extraordinaire et voyageant autour du Monde. Je pense vraiment que quiconque trouvant que nos musiques sont similaires doit être sourd. Mais je ne m'occupe pas du tout des comparaisons car nous faisons nos propres choses et avons nos propres identités.

Votre 1ère grosse tournée aux USA était avec Lady Gaga qui est probablement au top de la chaîne alimentaire de la pop maintenant. Où va aller Cinema Bizarre ici avec une autre tournée?

Actuellement nous travaillons sur notre tournée européenne “WE’RE ALL TOYZ”-Tour. Nous planifions aussi un autre voyage aux USA cet été et bien sûr nous voulons aussi revenir pour jouer plus de concerts et une tournée complète Américaine. GaGa a été d'un grand soutient et c'était une grande opportunité d'aller en tournée avec elle.

Il vient juste d'être annoncé que votre album Bang sortira aux USA le 25 Août. Pouvez-vous nous en dire un peu plus à propos de ce que les fans attendent impatiemment ? De quelle façon cette sortie diffère des albums précédents en Allemagne?

En Europe nous sortons le 2nd album nous ne voulons pas que les USA manquent le 1er. Donc nous avons décidé de faire un mélange de nos 2 albums Européens. Mais il y aura aussi quelques chansons sur lesquelles nous avons travaillé juste pour le marché Américain. “BANG!” va être un feu d'artifice de paillettes, de mélancolie et de pouvoir. Ça va juste être bang!

Chaque membre du groupe a un look très unique et il semble que l'androgynie soit un thème. Est-ce une vraie déclaration ?

J'ai toujours été très androgyne .Si vous regardez des photos de mon enfance j'ai toujours paru différent des autres enfants. Et du moins ils m'ont fait me sentir différent. J'étais inadapté et ils m'ont forcé à réfléchir à ma façon d'être. Je ne veux juste pas être restreint dans ce que je fais par des règles d'un autre temps . Pourquoi un garçon ne pourrait-il pas porter du maquillage ? Je ne sais pas qui fait ces règles et je ne me soucie pas de ceux-là non plus.

Quel est le meilleur conseil de coiffure et de maquillage que tu pourrais donner à tes fans ?

Je ne suis pas le genre de mec à donner à quelqu'un un conseil sur ce à quoi il devrait ressembler. Soyez juste à l'aise avec ce que vous faites. Le seul moyen d'être heureux c'est d'être vous.

Si tu dois choisir une personne pour un rencard et une personne à jeter qui seraient de Twilight : Robert Pattinson ou des Jonas Brother’s Nick Jonas. Même question pour Megan Fox ou Miley Cyrus.

Je jetterais Nick Jonas et Miley Cyrus.
